Rate of Makhana increased in Mithila due to Kojagara


The festival Kojagara is celebrated from ancient time in Mithila on the day of Ashwin Purnima ( Ashwin full moon day ) .Sharad Purnima is also celebrated on the same day.

This year , this festival is being celebrated on October 5 and hence the demand of Makhana has been increased in the market of Darbhanga and Laheriasarai .

Consumption of Makhana normally gets increased during Durga Puja.This year , its rate , has increased by Rs 50 to Rs 60 rupees since last week .

In the local market , the rate of general quality of Makhana is from 250 to 260 rupees / kg while the rate of the best quality of Makhana is Rs 380 to Rs 400 rupees per kilogram .

The rate of bigger size Makhana is from Rs 450 to Rs 500 rupees .
