Munishwar Jha gets Bhasha Samman award 2014 by Sahitya Akademi


Sahitya Academi Award 2014 in Bhasha Samman awarded to Acharya Munishwar Jha

For contribution to literature in Eastern Classical and Medieval Literature  for 2014, Munishwar Jha has been received the Sahitya Akademi ‘s prestigious Bhasha Samman, award.Mr Jha was also honoured in 2006 for his contribution to Sanskrit literature with the Presidential Award.He has been a former Calcutta University linguistics professor .He also served as a vice-chancellor of Darbhanga’s Kameshwar Singh Sanskrit University.He has written many books in Hindi, English, Maithili and Sanskrit.

The 88-year-old Patna-based scholar and educationist , talking to the newspersons said, “I am grateful for the award. People should learn as many languages as possible. There will always be instinctive attachment to one’s mother tongue, but one should love other languages as well,” .
