Lok Nayak Jaiprakash airport at Patna is going to be closed in view of converting the Bihta airport into an International Airport.Bihta Airport has been exchanged to develop it as an International airport for Gaya Airport with the Indian Air force. The talks between civil aviation minister Ashok Gajpati Raju and the defence minister Manohar Parrikar has been finished and the defense ministry can issue a notification regarding the change in air force station at any time Indeed , International Civil Aviation Organization , a wing of United Nations , will visit India in this regard in the month of November for an audit .
The new international airport at Bihta is 33 km away from the Patna unlike the LNJP airport.Earlier , this the agency had raised the questions about the security given at the LNJP Patna airport in view of the DGCA not given the license to operate. There are many criteria are not completed regarding the security by the Patna airport authority . So the civil aviation department demanded site from the defense ministry. If everything goes well , then the airbus service will start from Bihta before November .
According to the rule , without a license from DGCA ,no airport operate .The existing LNJP airport does not have the required safety strip of 150 metres along the runway which is a serious cause of security. There are operational constraints where all airlines from the airport have to fly with load penalty and keep 20-30 seats empty on board each flight.
