According to a the latest Darbhanga airport status news it has been said that re-carpeting of Darbhanga airport runway will be started from the next month.
“The start of flights from Darbhanga is included in our priority and recarpeting work of runway will soon begin.After setup of Porta Cabin flight services will be started.”, quoted the Minister of State for Civil Aviation , Jayant Sinha,
The Ministry of Civil Aviation was found to start flights as soon as possible and preparations are in full swing.
Re-carpeting work will take about six months.Porta cabin construction is said to take at least two months.
In the beginning, the flight operations will be started by installing of Porta cabin.
Later on , after increase in the the number of passengers, the structure of the Civil Enclave would be made permanent.
It is not to forget that Porta Kevin is being used only for the construction of the Civil Enclave on other Airports related to the Regional Communication Plan. Because these are made in a low cost.It takes less time to build it.
AAI is fully geared up and has made provisions for operationalising several non-operational airports at Tier-II and Tier-III cities and upgradation of unserved airports for operations of RCS flights by making provisions like this one of pre-engineered building/ porta cabin for terminal buildings and mobile towers at some of the airports to cope up with the timelines.
Nothing officially has been stated about Darbhanga airport opening date but according to sources it is estimated that by the end of the year or as early as august 2018 , the operation from Darbhanga Airport is likely to start.
In the first phase, direct flights will start from Darbhanga to Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.Other metro cities will be connected in the next phase.
Spice Jet Airlines has also taken flight permissions for it under the UDAN 2 plan.
