During a 3-day visit of Prime Minister of Nepal a consensus was reached between the two countries to further strengthen the relations between the people.It was also decided that an electrified train will run from Raxaul ( Bihar) to Kathmandu, capital of Nepal, with the help of India.
It was agreed in the talks between the Prime Ministers of both the countries that under the first phase of the project, the survey of the route will be completed within a year.Both sides will also give the final form of implementation of the plan and the financial stake within a year and the detailed project report will be prepared along with this.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured Nepal that India will fully cooperate in this work.
Both the Prime Ministers appreciated the progress made in the first phase of increasing rail connectivity on the Indo-Nepal border.
Under this plan, the work of laying a rail line from Jaynagar ( in Bihar) to Janakpur this year will be completed.
The work of custom yard between Jogbani and Biratnagar will also be completed this year.Both leaders agreed to complete the Jaynagar-Bijalpura -Bardibas and Jogbani-Biratnagar Rail line on priority basis.
In the second phase of the project, it is proposed to connect New Jalpaiguri to Kakarbhitta, Nautanwa with Bhairawa and Nepalganj Road to Nepalganj.The final survey is underway in this regard
