India is working on a plan of laying rail tracks between Delhi to Kathmandu .In this regard 54 lakhs rupees were allocated in the Rail budget of 2016-17 for surveys of proposed 359 KM track from Gonda of India to Kathmandu in Nepal.
The official sources say that the PM of Nepal , K P Sharma Oli had had travelled to India between February 19 to 25 and soon afterward the Railway Minister , Suresh Prabhu presented the Rail Budget 2016-17 in the Parliament and he approved the project of laying new Railways track of 359 KM from Badhani of Gonda district (UP) to Kathmandu .This Railways track will be under North Eastern Railways .
There is a proposal of laying rail tracks from Badhni to Kathmandu via Kapilvastu and Lumbini .The two important Buddhist pilgrimage sites will be connected via this railways link .This Railways track will also pass through tourist center , National Forest Park , Chitwan . The project is expected to boost the tourism of Nepal as well as India .
According to our sources for this project India will provide the economic resources while Nepal government will faciliate land acquisition .The transportation of oil and goods will become easy with the making of this railways track .The survey of this Railways track will start soon after a meeting with officials of Nepal .However , the government of India has not yet revealed the estimated cost of the whole project .
